‘Classy Efficiency In Comox’ is an energy retrofit renovation of an original west coast homestead looking out towards the serene Comox Harbour. The homeowners wanted to upgrade their residence to a high performance, energy efficient home which fit in with the neighbourhood, and enabled them to live sustainably. This home boasts some incredible efficient characteristics such as an Air Tightness result of 0.54 ACH, triple paned windows, solar panels, heat recovery drain, extra exterior insulation and a heat pump. Some of the interesting design features include the beautiful cedar soffits, metal roof, stone counters, custom hardwood flooring, chestnut wood island counter top, custom timber features, windows in the garage, and a retaining wall which created a yard for the family instead of a slow descent into marsh & brush. This home is also outfitted with a Tesla charger in the garage as well as a universal level 2 EV charger on the exterior of the home. This home was landscaped intentionally with native plants surrounding and a gravel driveway. The whole neighbourhood enjoyed watching the transformation of the original weathered home turn into a stunning high performance home with class.
