Living On The Edge
This spectacular home started with a fantastic architectural design. The oceanfront lot posed many obstacles from extracting a 70’s bungalow type cabin from the property, creating a durable and safe aluminum staircase to the beach, creating a 3 storey home with a separate garage, a shared driveway, and a bridge providing access from the driveway to the home, yes that’s right, a bridge to the home – #AMAZING. Breathtaking views dazzle your eyes as soon as you approach the front door. This home optimizes the Departure Bay view with floor to ceiling windows, clerestory windows, and 3 decks throughout the home. Two flights of stairs link the top floor living area, to the middle floor hosting the bedrooms for the family, and finally reaching the final floor with the rec-room and guest space. Unique features throughout this home truly make it a dream home: a dumbwaiter was installed to connect all 3 levels of the home in order to allow food from the top floor to be delivered safety to the rec room & hot tub area, a kids bathroom with 3 sinks and a urinal for the boys of the house, a pass through kitchen window that lets the ocean breeze flow freely through the home while the good food is passed through to the kitchen deck, and one last outstanding feature is the covered ocean view deck with an outdoor fireplace that can be enjoyed throughout the seasons that Vancouver Island enjoys. This home is stunning and truly a unique gem hidden away in the Harbour City of Nanaimo.

Interesting Facts:
This home has some interesting stories behind the new build to note.
- The old cabin was deconstructed and upcycled. The cedar was reclaimed and used for the dock and the bridge on the property, and the rest has been saved for an upcoming treefort!
- All of the interior wood features (wood counters, beams and all the stair treads) are from wood sourced right from the property. The owner milled it and dressed it on the weekends.
- The kitchen shelves and counters and the big story pole in the basement are all from arbutus from the property.
What The Owners Have To Say:
“We’re proud of how efficient the home is. It is exceptionally airtight and in mid-winter our heat and hot water bill is only $60!”
