Gulf Island Sanctuary
This private home hidden on the bluffs in the Gulf Islands was built to Passive House standards as our clients desired an extremely energy efficient home to enjoy their retirement in. The entire layout design was driven around incorporating the natural light. Locally sourced, custom milled cedar was used throughout the home and contrasted by the dark exterior and metal roof. This home has subtle unique features such as minimal doors to ensure accessibility, architectural dry wall-beading which eliminates all trims and moldings, and utilizes an HRV to ensure fresh air flows through this home while keeping the home warm in the summer and cool in the winter. It has a spectacular wrap around deck and large European sliding glass doors that invites the outside environment into the living space. This home has won ‘Best Environmental Initiative’ at the 2017 VIBE awards, and continues to be a high performance home for the proud owners.
